Senior Product Design Engineers
We are seeking a talented and passionate Product Design Engineer to work within our high-energy, dynamic environment, working on a wide variety of products and deliverables across a very diverse range of sectors. You will participate in product development of various disruptive innovations from proof of concepts, to intellectual property analysis, to leading and collaborating with engineers, researchers, strategists, designers, management team, outside contracted firms and clients.
You are a highly-tuned problem solver. You’ll be bringing your years of experience, education, and your ability to prioritize, risk manage, to innovate your way through the multitude of challenges you’ll face. You’ll gain extensive knowledge of designing for plastic injection molding, sheet metal design and other manufacturing techniques, as well as the experience of creating strategies for bringing complex, multi-part, multi-material prototypes together in a compressed timeframe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the creation of complex and innovative design solutions that emphasize and merge aesthetic and user experience design intent with best of class build quality and production engineering to exceed client and end-user expectations.
Participate in team brainstorming sessions and other team meetings intended to define design priorities and performance goals based on client objectives.
Identify, engage and interview potential contract manufacturers and other suppliers; and visit and evaluate possible manufacturing partners to review their production capabilities and readiness.
Produce and maintain full project dossiers, including cost of goods, bill of materials, and complete drawing and data packages.
Review tooling designs to verify the quality of fit and finish implementation as well as supporting manufacturing partners to resolve issues during design transfer and transition to mass production.
Review initial production samples for design and engineering intent and adherence to specified tolerances. Analyze and test field returns to determine root cause of failure and propose and implement corrective actions.
Keep your finger on the pulse, and monitor the latest innovations related to product development, including new component technologies, materials, manufacturing and prototyping processes.
The Ideal Candidate Will Also Meet or Exceed the Following Criteria:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Degree in Design Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
1-6 years experience, consultancy-based experience in the design, development and engineering of unique product solutions
Demonstrated experience participating in design teams & clients through challenging projects
Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:
Excellent team collaboration, communication, and presentation skills
